Custom Hearing Aids
Custom hearing aids are worn in the ear and are custom made based on an impression made of each individual's ear canal and out ear bowl. They are available in many different colors in order to match individual skin tones. They also come in a variety of sizes, which are listed below ranging from smallest to largest:

CIC: Completely-In-the-Canal hearing aids are the smallest made custom style. They fit deeply within the ear canal and require a "removal string" due to their small size. Additionally due to their small size, CICs do not usually have manual controls and have a shorter battery life. This style fits mild to moderate hearing losses and offers high cosmetic appeal due to the small size.

ITC: In-The-Canal hearing aids are slightly more visible than CIC hearing aids and because of their slightly larger size typically have a longer battery life and host additional features such as a volume control or directional microphones. ITC hearing aids fit mild to moderate hearing losses.

ITE: In-The-Ear hearing aids are typically larger and range in size from a half shell to a full shell style a?? filling up more of the outer ear bowl. Like ITC styles, they allow for more additional features and longer battery life due to their larger size. ITE hearing aids are more visible and are the easiest to handle of the custom made aids. This style fits mild to moderately-severe hearing losses.

Behind-the-Ear Hearing Aids
Behind-the-Ear (BTE) hearing aids sit behind or on top of the outer portion of the ear lobe and route sound down into the ear canal via tubing that connects to either an ear tip or earmold. BTEs come in a wide variety of colors depending upon the manufacturer, which allows matching skin tone, hair color or personality. The different sizes available accommodate different degrees of hearing loss, cosmetic preferences, controls, battery types and features. The different styles are listed below:

Open Fit BTE: Open fit BTEs consist of a mini BTE hearing aid connected to a plastic slim tube and ear tip which sits within the ear canal. This style is designed to fit discretely behind the outer earlobe and routes sound into the ear canal via the thin plastic tube. Open fit BTEs do not occlude the ear canal, which allows for a more natural open fit. This style is ideal for mild to moderate hearing losses and offers high cosmetic appeal due to the discrete design.

Open Fit RITE: Open fit Receiver-In-The-Ear hearing aids are mini BTE hearing aids that have the speaker of the instrument within the ear tip, instead of on the main body of the hearing aid. This design allows fitting more significant hearing losses compared to the Open Fit BTE, from mild to severe. RITE hearing aids look very similar to an Open Fit BTE and offer high cosmetic appeal.

BTE with earmold: Behind-The-Ear hearing aids with a custom earmold have the most circuit options and typically have more power than any of the custom made or open fit hearing aids, and are ideal for mild to profound hearing losses.BTEs rest behind or on top of your ear and are connected to custom-made earmolds via plastic tubing. The custom earmold color and style can be adjusted to match skin tone and comfort preferences.
